In addition to providing comprehensive management and caretaking services, we also offer ranch and rural property consultation services, particularly in the areas of emergency preparedness and fire prevention.
Knights Valley is remote and easily isolated during emergencies and catastrophic events, but the single greatest threat to us is fire. And the most impactful challenge facing residents in our area is keeping your homeowners insurance policy due to that threat of fire. We live in an extremely fire prone area, and this makes insurance companies nervous. And we’ve all seen the effects of this. But having an effective preparedness and hardening plan, including standardized infrastructure, diligent fuels management, and reliable communications when cell towers go down will significantly reduce the risk of loss during a fire and greatly help your efforts with your insurance carriers. By focusing on prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery we can identify and implement the best preparedness strategy for your property.
We are also working with the Northern Sonoma County Fire Protection District on ways for our local responders to be more familiar with our properties and the different resources available throughout Knights Valley, to help their access and response during fires and other emergencies. And if it’s a large scale event with outside responders, we will interface with them on your behalf to access and ensure timely responses.
And to help fill the emergency response gap for Knights Valley, we are also spearheading a neighborhood response group, made up of residents that can pool resources and respond during fires and other natural disasters affecting Knights Valley. This, coupled with an effective emergency preparedness strategy, greatly reduces the risk of loss during a major event. Together we can make a difference until emergency responders get into the valley. And as we’ve seen, this can be some time, especially during large scale disasters. See our Community Resilience page for more information and ways to participate.
