Are you ready for our next rain event? Starting Friday we are looking at 6 consecutive days of rain, with up to 8″ total accumulation predicted. Right now Saturday is looking like the heaviest day of rain, with 2.4″ predicted.
What to expect: This time of year the ground is pretty well saturated, which means we can expect most of the rain to run off. This means surface sheet flow and full or overflowing ditches. Fortunately our earlier rains have flushed most of the leafy matter through the ditches and culverts, but it’s a good idea to check those in the next day or two. You should also reinforce any water bars that get regular vehicle traffic and make sure any other of your erosion controls are in place.
There are a few days of gustier winds predicted too, so there is potential for tree fall. While this is not being classified as a “wind event” at this point, you should have your chainsaw gassed up and ready, as well as your generator in case of power loss.
